The Tennessee Theatre is seeking a highly organized, detail-driven, and people-centered professional to join our team as an Education & Outreach Coordinator.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives behind the scenes—but loves being part of the action—supporting programs that connect students, educators, and the broader community to the performing arts.
You won’t just coordinate logistics—you’ll help bring impactful education and outreach programs to life.
About the Role
Reporting to the Education Manager (with collaboration across the Outreach team), you’ll provide essential coordination and administrative support to a wide range of education and community engagement initiatives.
From workshops and student programs to community partnerships and special events, you’ll be a key contributor ensuring every detail is organized, communicated, and executed effectively.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Program Coordination & Planning

Manage registrations and applications, serving as a key point of contact for participants

Coordinate schedules across departments for program events and space usage

Assist with planning logistics including vendors, instructors, and food & beverage needs
-
Ensure clear communication across teams such as Marketing, Events, and Advancement
Event Execution & Support

Assist with setup, breakdown, and on-site coordination of programs and events
-
Actively participate in events—both on-site and off-site—including evenings and weekends

Prepare materials and support hands-on delivery of initiatives like:

Workshops, masterclasses, and talkbacks

Student programs, summer camps, and mentorship opportunities

Community outreach events and partnership programs
Ticketing & Program Support

Serve as the primary contact for Theatre Arts for All (TAFA) ticket requests and fulfillment
-
Manage program-related sign-ups, surveys, and communications
Community Engagement & Accessibility

Support accessibility initiatives and requests as needed

Represent the Theatre at outreach events and community programs

Preferred Experience

Experience in education, outreach, nonprofit arts, or community programming

Familiarity with ticketing systems or databases is a plus

Associate or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
Work Environment & Expectations

Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends based on programming needs

Frequent on-site and occasional off-site work at community locations
-
Active role requiring lifting (25–30 lbs.) and extended periods of standing or movement

ABOUT THE TENNESSEE THEATRE
The Tennessee Theatre is an ornate, 1600-seat historic movie palace fully renovated into a multi-purpose performing arts venue. With over 220 booked days, it hosts more than 175 events annually, ranging from touring concerts, comedy, and Broadway; resident symphony, opera, and jazz performances; classic movies; children and family events; patron events; and private rental events. It is a treasured architectural landmark, a cultural cornerstone of the region, and an entertainment destination beloved by generations of audiences. The HTTF mission is to preserve, maintain, and operate the Official State Theatre of Tennessee as an arts and entertainment cornerstone for the cultural enrichment and enjoyment of all.
The Theatre has recently acquired and renovated a neighboring building (24,000 sf spread over seven levels) that is physically connected to the Theatre building and used primarily to enhance and expand Theatre programming (pre- and post-show receptions, private intermission lounges, rehearsal and educational spaces, and more) as well as additional private rental use. The new spaces are complete, and full activation of this building is expected in 4Q 2026.
