Valley Family Dental is looking for a dependable, energetic, and customer-focused Patient Engagement Specialist to join our front office team at our Fort Smith location.
PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE OFFICE REGARDING THIS POSITION.
Our team is busy caring for patients and we anticipate receiving a high volume of applications. Please submit your application through Indeed. We will personally reach out to candidates whose experience and qualifications appear to be a good fit for our team.
Who We Are Looking For
This position is about much more than answering phones and scheduling appointments. Our front office team helps set the tone for the entire patient experience.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a strong customer service background and genuinely enjoys helping people
- Is dependable and understands the importance of consistent attendance and punctuality
- Has a strong work ethic
- Works with a sense of urgency and does not need to be constantly reminded of what needs to be done
- Is friendly, professional, and confident communicating with patients
- Can stay organized while handling multiple responsibilities
- Pays close attention to detail
- Is comfortable answering phones, communicating by text, and working with computers
- Is willing to learn and accepts coaching well
- Works well as part of a team
- Has a history of stable employment
Dental experience is helpful, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right person. A strong background in customer service, hospitality, medical reception, banking, retail, or another fast-paced customer-facing environment can translate very well into this position.
Responsibilities
As a Patient Engagement Specialist, your responsibilities may include:
- Warmly greeting patients and creating a positive first impression
- Answering incoming phone calls and responding to patient messages
- Scheduling and confirming appointments
- Maintaining an organized and productive patient schedule
- Assisting with new patient intake
- Checking patients in and out
- Collecting and updating patient information
- Helping maintain smooth patient flow throughout the day
- Communicating professionally with patients regarding appointments and financial responsibilities
- Assisting with records, referrals, forms, and other administrative needs
- Following up with patients as needed
- Supporting the doctors, clinical team, and fellow front office team members
- Learning dental terminology, office systems, and procedures
What Matters Most to Us
We can teach systems and dental terminology. What is much harder to teach is attitude, dependability, work ethic, and urgency.
Our office moves quickly, and our patients rely on us. We need someone who notices what needs to be done and takes initiative, rather than waiting to be asked.
Being on time, being present, helping your teammates, following through, and providing excellent service to our patients are essential expectations of this position.
Employment History
We value consistency and dependability. Candidates with a demonstrated history of staying with employers and growing within their positions will be strongly considered.
Frequent job changes or a pattern of short-term employment may not be the best fit for what we are looking for in this role.
Why Join Valley Family Dental?
You will be joining a busy dental practice where patient care, teamwork, professionalism, and personal accountability matter. We want someone who is looking for more than a temporary job and who would like the opportunity to become an important part of our team.
If you enjoy working with people, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and take pride in being someone your coworkers can count on, we would love to review your application.
How to Apply
Please apply directly through Indeed and make sure your resume includes your complete and current employment history.
Please do not call the office regarding your application. Our front office team needs to remain available to care for our patients. Due to the number of applications we receive, we are unable to provide application updates by phone.
Our team will review applications carefully and will reach out directly to candidates who meet the qualifications and are selected to move forward in the interview process.
We look forward to learning more about you!
