Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. This role involves assisting clients in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being within various care settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or community-based environments. The ideal candidate will be committed to enhancing quality of life through personalized care and support.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance
- Provide medication administration following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Monitor vital signs and observe patient conditions to ensure safety and well-being
- Support clients with meal preparation, cooking, and nutritional needs in accordance with dietary guidelines
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and ensure proper use for safe transfers
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, including progress notes and incident reports
- Engage clients in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and independence
- Follow individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including dementia or Alzheimer's care when applicable
- Uphold safety standards through patient observation and adherence to health protocols such as CPR and first aid procedures
- Assist with cleaning and maintaining a safe, hygienic environment for residents
Skills
- Previous experience in group home settings, assisted living, or long-term care preferred
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including Alzheimer’s, dementia, memory care, autism spectrum disorder, and hospice care
- Ability to perform patient monitoring and assist with ADLs effectively
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality
- CPR and first aid certification required; additional certifications such as nursing assistant training are a plus
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills for working with individuals with disabilities or complex health needs
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Physical capability for heavy lifting when necessary and assisting with mobility devices such as Hoyer lifts
- Experience with medication administration, vital signs measurement, and developing or implementing care plans is highly desirable
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to improve the lives of those served
