Job Summary:

This position ensures that school buses are properly maintained to minimize down-time and maximize the value of the district's investment. A mechanic helps to ensure a safe and efficient transportation system for the Pattonville R-III School District.
Salary:

Pay Grade B60
-
$24.07 - $35.73 per hour

Desired Qualifications:
-
Three years experience in motor vehicle and heavy duty maintenance operation and repairs
-
A valid CDL License or ability to obtain a CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements.

Missouri state school bus inspector license.

High school or vocational school graduate supplemented by gas and diesel mechanical experience.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and others.

Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-
Works in conjunction with the director of transportation and fleet supervisor to help develop and implement a comprehensive plan to prepare district vehicles for vehicle inspections.

Keeps tools and machinery safe and organized..

Change oil, filter, lubricants, service check batteries, fluids, and tire pressure and completes appropriate records/paperwork.

Performs analysis and identifies the cause of malfunctioning equipment.

An understanding of transportation related computer software and technical equipment.

Able to react to change and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Perform other duties as assigned by the transportation director and lead mechanic.
Other Requirements
-
Must be able to drive various types of district vehicles as well as climb on and under vehicles to perform various types of checks and minor repairs.

Must pass an annual Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.

Need to have or be willing to obtain the inspector license from Troop C.
