Overview
We are seeking a skilled Welder specializing in MIG (Metal Inert Gas) and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding to join our manufacturing and fabrication team. This position involves working on diverse projects, including metal fabrication, pipe welding, and structural assembly, across construction sites and fabrication shops. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency with technical drawings, and adherence to industry standards such as AWS (American Welding Society) codes. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality metalwork in a dynamic environment, supporting various construction and manufacturing initiatives.
Duties
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on various materials including sheet metal, pipe, and structural components in accordance with blueprints and technical schematics.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure precise fabrication and assembly.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment to shape and assemble metal components.
- Conduct quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools to verify dimensions and weld integrity.
- Prepare materials through processes such as pipe threading, gas metal arc welding (GMAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), and FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding).
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to OSHA standards, rigging protocols, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Collaborate with team members on construction sites or within fabrication shops to meet project deadlines and specifications.
- Assist in the interpretation of schematics, assembly instructions, and technical documents related to mechanical fabrication.
- Operate forklifts or other material handling equipment as needed for moving heavy components.
- Support the use of shop math for measurements, calculations, and ensuring compliance with ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) codes & standards.
Skills
- Proven experience in construction site environments with a solid understanding of construction processes.
- Proficiency in MIG welding, TIG welding, SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), FCAW processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and mechanical diagrams accurately.
- Familiarity with fabrication shop practices including sheet metal fabrication, ductwork assembly, pipe threading, and metal cutting techniques.
- Knowledge of ASME codes & standards as well as AWS welding certifications.
- Skilled in using calipers, micrometers, hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and gas cutting equipment.
- Mechanical knowledge related to rigging, machining operations, soldering techniques, schematics interpretation, and assembly procedures.
- Experience operating forklifts or similar material handling machinery safely.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations essential for precision welding tasks.
- Strong attention to detail combined with excellent safety awareness and teamwork capabilities.
