Dr. Hayes’s laboratory (https://hayes-lab.github.io) in the Department of Cell Biology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center is seeking an enthusiastic and responsible Research Technician to support research projects studying the neuro-immune mechanisms in brain health and disease across the lifespan. Research in the Hayes Lab focuses on how developmental immune stressors lead to changes in brain development and risk for neurodevelopmental disorders. The primary responsibilities of the position include assist in mouse colony maintenance, performing experiments, data collection, management, and analysis. The preferred candidate will have some basic laboratory experience, contribute to team science, and have an intrinsic curiosity for science and discovery. The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to multiple research projects and publish research articles in peer-reviewed journals. The position is perfect for individuals interested in applying for graduate school and need to gain laboratory experience or are looking for a long-term laboratory position with the possibility for career advancement.
This position will provide general laboratory support by preparing solutions, stocking reagents, making aliquots, maintaining workstations, performing equipment maintenance/cleaning, organizing/storing samples appropriately, and conducting research experiments. Comfort with mouse handling, maintenance, treatment, and experimentation including preparing tissues and specimens for procedures is required. After training and displaying proficiency, this position includes independent work and may eventually involve a devoted project in line with the scientific mission of the lab.
