Role Description The Accountant role is a full-time, on-site position based in Geismar, LA.

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This role supports the Controller and Chief Financial Officer by maintaining financial systems, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains bank accounts, general ledger, and performs account reconciliations.
- Oversees the entry of invoices into the accounting system; reviews, approves, and records invoices as needed.
- Monitors and records incoming payments, ensuring accurate and timely posting.
- Prepares payroll-related reports and record payroll data on a biweekly basis.
- Assists with the preparation and maintenance of fixed asset schedules.
- Supports external auditors by preparing required documentation and assisting with the annual audit process.
- Assist with tracking of capital expenditures and construction project cost tracking.
- Responsible for maintenance of various insurance policies, including: equipment, vehicles, workers’ compensation, general liability, property, cyber, etc. Assists with the annual audit process and renewals.
- Prepares and files required reports and documents, including Secretary of State Annual Reports, occupational licenses, and Form 1099s.
- Identifies opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls; reports discrepancies or irregularities to the Controller and/or CFO.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong proficiency in accounting systems and databases; advanced Excel skills required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience with Sage Intacct is preferred.
- Interest in or willingness to learn the regulated utility industry.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant accounting experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation strongly preferred.
