Position Summary
The Restaurant Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, daily operations, financial performance, and guest experience at Akoya Omakase. This role ensures that every guest receives exceptional hospitality while maintaining the highest standards of service, food quality, cleanliness, and operational excellence. The Restaurant Manager leads by example, develops team members, and works closely with the Executive Chef and ownership to uphold the restaurant’s reputation for delivering a world-class omakase dining experience.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
- Oversee all daily front-of-house and overall restaurant operations.
- Ensure seamless service and maintain luxury hospitality standards.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and promptly resolve guest concerns.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe restaurant environment.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and alcohol service regulations.
Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop staff.
- Create schedules that maximize productivity while controlling labor costs.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable workplace culture.
- Address employee performance issues through coaching and disciplinary action when necessary.
Financial Management
- Manage labor, food, beverage, and operating costs.
- Analyze sales reports and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Develop and execute strategies to increase revenue and guest retention.
- Oversee inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships.
- Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting.
Guest Experience
- Create memorable dining experiences that exceed guest expectations.
- Build relationships with regular guests and VIP clientele.
- Maintain the highest standards of hospitality, professionalism, and personalized service.
- Handle guest feedback professionally and implement improvements when necessary.
Beverage & Wine Program
- Work with the beverage team to maintain an exceptional sake, wine, and spirits program.
- Ensure beverage quality, inventory accuracy, and responsible alcohol service.
- Support menu pairings and staff education on beverage offerings.
Marketing & Community Engagement
- Support marketing initiatives, special events, and promotional campaigns.
- Build relationships within the local community and hospitality industry.
- Help strengthen the Akoya Omakase brand through exceptional guest service and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of restaurant management experience, preferably in fine dining or luxury hospitality.
- Previous General Manager experience preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, labor, and profitability.
- Knowledge of wine, sake, Japanese cuisine, and omakase service is highly preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
