Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide exceptional patient care across various healthcare settings. As a CNA, you will play a vital role in assisting healthcare professionals with daily patient needs, ensuring comfort, dignity, and quality care for diverse populations including geriatric, pediatric, and individuals with disabilities.
Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using appropriate patient transfer methods and equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status accurately.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Support patients with medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper handling and aseptic techniques.
- Provide specialized care for patients with conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or those requiring memory or hospice care.
- Assist in medical procedures including phlebotomy and catheter care as directed by nursing staff or physicians.
- Utilize infection control protocols and safe lifting practices during patient handling to prevent injury and cross-contamination.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in settings such as hospitals (including ICU, trauma centers), long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, outpatient clinics, and home care environments.
Skills
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those requiring specialized dementia or Alzheimer's care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) including CPR certification.
- Familiarity with medical-surgical procedures, medication administration protocols, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to safe lifting practices; manual handling skills are essential.
- Strong caregiver communication skills to effectively support patients’ emotional and physical needs.
- Experience working in acute care environments such as Level I trauma centers or Level II trauma centers is advantageous.
- Competence in using hospital equipment like Hoyer lifts and understanding patient transfer methods for safe mobility assistance.
- Knowledge of infection control standards applicable in emergency medicine, ICU settings, or hospice environments.
