Organizational Purpose and Background - Habitat for Humanity Tucson is dedicated to transforming lives by increasing access to affordable housing in Southern Arizona. Habitat Tucson builds and repairs homes in partnership with the community and local families to create strong, stable communities for generations to come. The Warehouse Crew Leader is an essential part of the Habitat for Humanity Tucson’s innovative workforce development center and under the direction of the Workforce Development Manager helps to oversee warehouse operations and volunteer coordination to support the mission of building strength, stability, self-reliance, and shelter in local communities.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Construction Lead: Assist with all aspects of hands-on construction tasks including demolition, site prep, framing, insulation, painting, drywall, flooring, roofing, finish carpentry and landscaping. Projects include new construction, rehabilitation, critical home repair, and weatherization.
- Volunteer Management: Support preparation of the panel shop by learning beginner framing skills by building panels, following checklists, taking inventory, basic carpentry, help prepare items for construction team welcoming volunteers and be a guide to answering volunteer questions.
- Site Coordination: Under the guidance of the Warehouse Manager, you will manage and organize the activities of CHUCK Workforce Development Center and assist with leading Habitat volunteers and projects.
- Project Support: Act as an articulate, passionate and visible spokesperson for Habitat for Humanity.
Project Focus Areas and Activities
- Community Needs Assessment: The AmeriCorps member will evaluate the site’s programs and services by engaging with stakeholders and conducting assessments, such as a SWOT analysis, to identify strengths and areas for growth. They will compile and present findings with recommendations to site leadership for consideration.
- Skill Building: The AmeriCorps member will engage in activities that include skill development, hands-on job training, and leadership opportunities that ultimately provide valuable life experience, pathways to higher education, and workforce development.
- Resource Distribution: The AmeriCorps member will support the effective distribution of resources by assessing needs, identifying gaps, and coordinating logistics to ensure access.
- Outreach: The AmeriCorps member will occasionally conduct outreach efforts to help promote AmeriCorps programs, volunteering and programs offered to the community.
- Evaluation: The AmeriCorps member will assist in assessing the efficacy and efficiency of ongoing programs and services to beneficiaries; assess program impact; and make recommendations for improving programs based on evaluation results.

- AmeriCorps members can receive in-state tuition from either NAU, ASU, or University of Arizona. Members must:
- Serve a full term of service for 1 year
- Service can be part time
- Member must request their in-state tuition waiver form from registrar's office
- Arizona Serve will provide a proof of service letter after they complete their term.
Pay: $25,500.00 per year
Work Location: In person
