Colonial Springs Healthcare Center is seeking compassionate, experienced, and dedicated Certified Medication Technician (CMT)s to join our exceptional healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the safe and accurate administration of medications while providing high-quality care to our residents. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and passionate about enhancing the lives of seniors through compassionate, resident-centered care.
Please Note: This is not a Level I Medication Aide position. Applicants must have a minimum of six (6) months of experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and must have successfully completed a state-approved Certified Medication Technician (CMT) course to be considered for this role.
We are currently hiring for full-time Day Shift and Evening Shift positions, working 8-hour shifts.
QualificationsRequired:
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing
- Minimum of six (6) months experience working as a CNA
- Successful completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Technician (CMT) training program
- Current CMT certification in good standing
- CPR certification - offer this class to new hires.
- Ability to meet all state regulations and requirements for Certified Medication Technicians
Preferred:
- Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, assisted living, rehabilitation, or memory care environments
- Experience caring for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease
- Additional training in hospice, memory care, or geriatric care is ideal.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely administer prescribed medications according to physician orders, state regulations, and facility policies
- Accurately document medication administration and resident care using Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature
- Observe residents for medication effectiveness, adverse reactions, and changes in physical or mental condition
- Report concerns promptly to the nursing team and appropriate healthcare providers
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, dining assistance, and other personal care needs
- Provide compassionate support to residents with memory care needs, dementia, or Alzheimer's disease
- Assist with transfers and mobility while following safe lifting and handling techniques
- Maintain resident confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations
- Work collaboratively with nurses, therapists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality resident care
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations, including providing CPR and First Aid when necessary
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of medication administration procedures and safety protocols
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic pharmacology
- Experience with EMR/EHR documentation systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, and team members
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently while following established care plans and procedures
- Commitment to providing compassionate, resident-focused care
- Understanding of state Board of Nursing regulations governing Certified Medication Technicians
