Monroe Public Schools is seeking an outstanding Middle School Science Teacher (DI Endorsement) to join our team for the 20262027 school year. Position Summary
Under the direction of the building administrator, the Middle School Science Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging science instruction that promotes critical thinking, inquiry, problem-solving, and scientific literacy. The successful candidate will cultivate a positive classroom environment where students are challenged to explore scientific concepts through hands-on learning, collaboration, and real-world applications.

Primary Responsibilities
-
Plan and deliver standards-based science instruction aligned with the Michigan Academic Standards.

Develop engaging lessons that encourage inquiry, experimentation, and scientific investigation.
-
Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of diverse learners.
-
Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and achievement.
-
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology, and laboratory experiences to enhance student learning.

Assess student progress using formal and informal assessments and use data to guide instructional decisions.

Maintain accurate student records, grades, and documentation in accordance with district expectations.

Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.

Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, instructional coaches, and administrators to support student success.

Participate in professional learning communities, district professional development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Supervise students during assigned duties and school-sponsored activities.

Maintain classroom equipment, laboratory materials, and instructional resources in a safe and organized manner.

Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications

Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with a DI (Science) endorsement.

Demonstrated knowledge of middle school science curriculum and instructional best practices.

Strong classroom management and organizational skills.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community members.

Commitment to equity, inclusion, and meeting the needs of all learners.

Ability to effectively integrate educational technology into daily instruction.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching middle school science.
