The Youth Service Bureau's JUMP program (Juvenile Mentoring Program) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Advocate to join our team. In this role, you’ll mentor at-risk youth, support juveniles involved in the justice system, and help them develop the skills, confidence, and positive connections needed to succeed. As JUMP expands into prevention services, you’ll also have the opportunity to work with youth before they enter the juvenile justice system, making a lasting impact when it matters most.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with weekly community service opportunities for youth designed to aid youth in completing required hours, develop transferable skills, and create neighborhood attachment.
- Attends weekly group activities designed to engage youth in healthy leisure activities and promote positive social skills, as assigned.
- Co-facilitates weekly groups
- Assists with victim awareness group on a monthly basis.
- Documents activities in files.
- Provides transportation for youth to activities and groups.
- Actively participates in staff meetings and required trainings.
- Joins in street outreach activities as assigned and as fit with goals of JUMP.
- Maintains care and provides service to families assigned to caseload
- Facilitate structed small group sessions using the curriculum in schools
- Build supportive strength based relationships with youth through consistent mentoring using the intervention in schools
Qualifications:
- Job requires a Bachelor’s level of education, and/ or practical experience working with youth or significant related coursework. Proven track record working successfully with youth and staff at varying levels is necessary. Understanding of the juvenile justice system, BARJ principles, and JJSES is preferred.
