We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, aging, and health challenges. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare teams.
- Administer medications following care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and assist residents with meal consumption as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing regular cleaning duties within group homes or assisted living facilities.
- Support residents during social activities, outings, and community engagement to promote socialization and mental well-being.
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with facility policies and state regulations; participate in care plan updates and team meetings.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including first aid, CPR, Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, hospice care, and working with individuals with autism or disabilities.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment such as Hoyer lifts; physical stamina for long shifts is essential.
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and patient safety; patience and empathy are crucial qualities.
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures and HIPAA privacy standards.
- Valid certifications in CPR and first aid are required (training available); additional certifications related to nursing or home health are a plus.
- Experience working with diverse populations including seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is advantageous.
