Summary:
The Deputy Director of Athletics directs and manages operations and activities of the department of athletics, under the general supervision of the Director of Athletics and Recreation. In the absence of the Director of Athletics, the Deputy Athletic Director is responsible for providing administrative oversight for all Athletics Department day-to-day operations and sports programs and serves as the primary departmental decision maker. The position also serves as the direct supervisor for compliance, business operations, student-athlete development, sports medicine, and strength and conditioning.
The position will take the lead role in forging/nurturing relationships within the campus community, work on special projects, keep abreast of all NCAA governance initiatives and also provides oversight of all sport administrators and Athletics programs.
Essential Functions:
Leads several recurring meetings to include weekly executive and senior staff (in ADs absence), weekly game operations meetings, sport administrators, and monthly coaches meetings.
Special projects as assigned by Director of Athletics & Recreation.
Serve as a sport supervisor and ensure sport administration consistency. Advise and consult with coaching staffs and senior administrators of the athletic department, interpreting program needs and questions, policies and procedures. Enhance the programmatic efforts of the sports and programs supervised throughout the academic year through sound advice and management.
Serve as the chief operating officer with overall responsibility for, and supervision of the Department in the absence of the Director of Athletics. Represent the department at various meetings and events that the Director of Athletics cannot attend. Represent the Department on NCAA, Patriot League and campus committees as well as ad hoc campus working groups as necessary.
Supervision of business operations, compliance, student-athlete development, sports medicine, and strength and conditioning, as well as serve as the lead sport administrator for all team sport administrators
Serve as the department HR representative acting as the bridge between the athletic department and the central Human Resources department. Manage day-to-day personnel operations, facilitate onboarding, and guide staff through company policies and serve as the first point of contact for staff seeking assistance with benefits, payroll, and other workplace policies.
Serve as the facilitator to process department complaints and concerns as they arise.
Assist with Board of Trustee Student Success Committee preparations and documents.
Lead coach and senior administrator hiring searches.
