Level 2
Production Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that raw materials, in-process components and final products meet established quality standards. This role is responsible for day-to-day quality operations, driving continuous improvement initiatives, leading root-cause investigations, and acts as the primary liaison between production and quality assurance functions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate quality activities across production
- Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards, SOP’s, and regulatory requirements
- Train and guide production staff on quality procedures, inspection methods, and practices
- Perform QC testing such as sterility, environmental monitoring and analytical testing as required for product release
- Help author and revise standard operating procedures, work instructions and test methods
- Oversee incoming, in-process, and final product inspections
- Ensure inspection tools, gauges, and testing equipment are properly calibrated and maintained
- Review inspection results and approve or reject materials or finished products as needed.
- Lead root-cause analysis for production defects or process deviations
- Drive corrective and preventative action (CAPA) initiatives
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve process capability, reduce scrap, and optimize yield
- Maintain good documentation practices ensuring accurate quality records, reports, and audit documentation
- Ensure non-conformances are logged, tracked, escalated, and resolved promptly
- Prepare quality performance metrics, (e.g., defect rates, scrap, process capability) for leadership review
- Serve as key point of contact between quality, production, engineering, and supply chain team
- Participate in customer audits, internal audits, and regulatory inspections
- Support new product introductions with quality planning, sample builds, and validation activities
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree or biotechnology experience (or equivalent experience)
· 1+ years of experience in production, manufacturing, or quality operations
· Small animal handling experience is not required but preferred
· Strong understanding of quality systems (ISO 9001, 9CFR, GMP, and relevant standards)
· Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
· Analytical thinking and process improvement mindset
Required knowledge, skills, & abilities:
· Ability to follow/comply with manufacturing outlines of production, Standard Operating Procedures, and Company/Corporate/Regulatory Policies.
· Demonstrate ability to work effectively with team members and show initiative to support and/or train other employees
· Work independently on routine tasks with effective time management to meet deadlines
· Occasional heavy lifting, standing, walking, and interacting with machinery and inspection tools required
· Attention to detail with Strong written and verbal skills
· Proficient computer-based system skills including PC and Mac
· Work schedules are an 8-5pm structure
· Salary Commensurate with Experience
Eligibility Requirements:
· Must Be legally authorized to work in the United Sates without restriction
· Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
· Must be 18 years of age or older
