American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Telemetry position at a Level 1 Trauma facility in Arizona, requiring at least 2 years of RN experience and the ability to interpret EKGs and titrate drips.

Acute care Neuro Telemetry unit (5NNB / 7NNB) in a Level 1 Trauma hospital

32-bed unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
-
Patient population includes CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, trached patients, brain tumors, and patients with psychiatric comorbidities
-
Average length of stay is 4–5 days; fast-paced, high-turnover unit

Cerner EMR with WOWs (workstations on wheels)
-
Central telemetry monitoring with EKG interpretation required
-
Titration of drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin required
-
12-hour day shifts, 7am–7pm
-
4 weekend shifts required per 8 weeks (noted in unit details as 4 per 4 weeks in shift notes)

Holidays worked into the permanent holiday rotation

Floating required to telemetry units and tele overflow in the ICU

No ventilator management required
-
SWAT RN available for difficult IV access
-
RT and Pharmacy available 24/7

Charge nurses take a light patient assignment

Nurse aides available on day and night shifts supporting BS, VS, and straight cath duties

13-week contract

Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted

Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications are not accepted

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Level 1 Trauma experience required

Neuro experience strongly preferred

Must be able to interpret EKGs

Must be able to titrate drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Insulin)

Cerner EMR experience preferred

Must pass a Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) prior to offer confirmation; candidates have 2 attempts

Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; driver's license is used to verify permanent address

On Day 1 of orientation, RNs must pass a pass/fail SIMs Lab assessment covering sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; nurses have been dismissed for breaking sterile field

Orientation also includes educational components on lifts, restraints, and wound care

Bedside report is the standard for this unit

Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

Natural hair color required and facial piercings are not permitted; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing

Travelers must have their own personal vehicle

First-time travelers are not mentioned as eligible — experienced travelers are expected given the Level 1 Trauma and SIMs Lab requirements
