Compensation
- $35–$40 per hour for Virginia license-eligible clinicians, including residents and supervisees
- $40–$50 per hour for fully licensed clinicians, including LCSWs, LPCs, LMFTs, and LSATPs
Minimum Caseload Requirement: 15 active clients
Position Overview
Behavioral Health Services of Virginia is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated outpatient therapists to provide telehealth counseling services to children, adolescents, adults, and families throughout Virginia.
This fully remote position offers flexible scheduling, consistent referrals, clinical support, and the opportunity to provide meaningful mental health services from home. Daytime, evening, and weekend appointment times are available, allowing clinicians to create a schedule that works best for them while meeting the needs of their clients.
The therapist will be responsible for delivering high-quality, client-centered care while maintaining timely documentation, consistent attendance, and compliance with all applicable clinical, ethical, payer, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and family therapy through a secure telehealth platform
- Complete comprehensive clinical assessments and establish appropriate diagnoses within the clinician’s scope of practice
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on each client’s needs, strengths, and goals
- Review and update treatment plans according to clinical and regulatory requirements
- Complete progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, and other required documentation accurately and on time
- Maintain consistent communication with clients regarding scheduling, appointments, and continuity of care
- Monitor client progress and adjust therapeutic interventions as clinically appropriate
- Collaborate with supervisors, caregivers, referral sources, and other members of the care team when needed
- Participate in supervision, consultation, training, and quality-improvement activities as required
- Follow all privacy, confidentiality, HIPAA, ethical, and telehealth standards
- Maintain a minimum active caseload of 15 clients
- Maintain a dependable and consistent weekly schedule
- Promptly report client safety concerns, hospitalizations, missed appointments, or significant changes in clinical status
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, Addiction Treatment, or a related behavioral health field
- Currently licensed or license-eligible to practice in Virginia
- Eligible credentials may include:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker
- Licensed Professional Counselor
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
- Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner
- Resident in Counseling
- Supervisee in Social Work
- Other qualifying Virginia behavioral health credentials
- Previous outpatient therapy or telehealth experience preferred
- Experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families is a plus
- Strong clinical assessment, treatment-planning, and crisis-identification skills
- Excellent written communication, organization, and documentation abilities
- Ability to manage a consistent caseload and meet documentation deadlines
- Reliable internet connection, appropriate technology, and a private, confidential workspace
- Dependable, professional, and committed to maintaining scheduled appointments
