About the Opportunity
PROLIM Government Services is hiring on behalf of its federal client, Northrop Grumman, for the position of Manufacturing Technician 1 in Goleta, California.
Northrop Grumman's Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division is a leading designer, manufacturer, and supplier of spacecraft components that power and enable satellites across the globe. Their products include spacecraft panels, bus structures, precision optical structures, deployable structural systems, solar arrays, and antenna reflectors used in many U.S. satellite programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fabrication and assembly of mechanical components and larger assemblies.
- Set up, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate prototype units and subassemblies.
- Work with engineers on equipment setup, calibration, process improvements, and testing.
- Perform quality inspections, rework, and final assembly operations.
- Collect and analyze manufacturing data using specialized software.
- Handle fragile composite materials while maintaining traceability and material controls.
- Record adhesive usage, pot life, and out-time requirements.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and manufacturing documentation.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized manufacturing environment.
- Support manufacturing experiments and continuous process improvements.
Basic Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- High School Diploma or GED with at least 2 years of additional education and/or related manufacturing experience.
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, overtime, and multiple shifts as required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
- Familiarity with hand tools and proper safety practices.
- Understanding of torque concepts and mechanical assembly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using electronic test equipment such as:
- DC Power Supplies
- Digital Multimeters
- Source Meters
- Knowledge of basic shop mathematics.
- Experience with ISO standards and manufacturing compliance.
- Experience operating cranes, forklifts, rigging equipment, or similar manufacturing tools.
- Soldering experience.
- J-STD Certification is a plus.
