We are seeking a dedicated ESL Teacher for the 2026 to 2027 school year. This position is ideal for educators who are passionate about supporting multilingual learners and helping students develop the language skills necessary to succeed across all academic subjects.
At PCSS, English language development is an important part of our mission to provide equitable access to rigorous learning. Teachers work closely with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure that English learners receive strong academic and language support.
Position Overview
The ESL Teacher is responsible for providing English language instruction and support for students who are learning English as an additional language. The teacher works with students individually and in small groups and collaborates with classroom teachers to ensure that English learners can fully participate in academic instruction.
The successful candidate will create a welcoming and supportive learning environment that builds students’ confidence in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct English language instruction aligned with Massachusetts English Language Development standards.
- Support multilingual learners in developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
- Assess student language proficiency and monitor progress toward English language development goals.
- Use a range of instructional strategies to support students with varying levels of English proficiency.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt instruction and support language development within content areas.
- Maintain documentation related to English learner services and student progress.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and available support services.
- Participate in student support meetings and collaborate with school staff to ensure student success.
- Engage in professional development related to English learner instruction and best practices.
Qualifications
Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to supporting multilingual learners and helping students develop the language skills needed for academic success.
Minimum requirements include:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Valid Massachusetts teacher license in ESL or English as a Second Language by the first day of school.
Candidates who are not yet licensed but are interested in experiential teacher training are encouraged to apply, with the goal of becoming licensed within the first year of employment.
Experience working with English learners or multilingual students is preferred.
