Job Summary
The Plant Maintenance Specialist (Night Shift) is responsible for understanding plant operations and contributing to site goals. This role involves performing inspections of critical areas, executing routine maintenance tasks with minimal supervision, and assisting with larger maintenance jobs. The position serves as a key step in developing technical expertise and operational awareness.

Essential Functions
• Conduct pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections, lubricate moving parts, and complete scheduled preventative maintenance tasks to prevent component failures.
• Troubleshoot and replace basic mechanical components, including conveyor belts, idlers, pulleys, and water pumps.
• Perform structural repairs, hard facing, and replace heavy wear-parts (such as crusher liners and shaker screens) using welding, cutting, and grinding equipment.
• Strictly adhere to MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) and OSHA regulations, execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, and maintain a hazard-free work area.
• Observe aggregate crushing, washing, and screening areas during operation to identify anomalies by sight or sound and perform minor adjustments.
• Record and maintain service logs, lubrication reports, and maintenance records for plant equipment.

• Technical Expertise -Solid mechanical understanding of mobile equipment, including basic maintenance checks and troubleshooting minor issues. Ability to identify signs of equipment malfunction, understand and report them to the maintenance team.

Responsibilities Education
• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.

Experience
• Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required for these occupations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Understanding of plant operations, processes, and performance goals
• Knowledge of inspection procedures for critical areas of the site
• Knowledge of routine maintenance tasks and troubleshooting techniques
• Understanding of larger maintenance tasks and repair processes

Other Requirements
• Experience with a variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches and welding equipment.
• Knowledge of small electrical equipment repair/replacement.
• MSHA knowledge and requirements for plant maintenance.
• A valid driver's license.

Hourly Range: the hourly range for this role is between $23.60 - $35.40 . This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.

Shift Differential. At Vulcan Materials Company, in the Northeast Division, Night or Second Shift employees are paid a shift differential of an additional 20% on their base pay if the employee works certain hours during the designated time period. We believe the additional compensation helps to offset the inconvenience of working less desirable hours.
