Long-Term Substitute Athletic Trainer Needed
Location: Champlain Valley Union High School

Champlain Valley Union High School (CVU) seeks a certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) to join our activities team. The ATC will be responsible for the safety, care, and treatment of our students–primarily those who participate in athletics. The Athletic Trainer is an integral component of our team who develops strong relationships with students, faculty/staff, and the larger community. The Athletic Trainer will report directly to the Activities Director.
Primary Responsibilities

Organizes and oversees the athletic training program by:

Injury prevention through strength and conditioning programs, equipment fitting, taping, bandaging, bracing, and nutrition.

Recognition, evaluation, and assessment of athletic/orthopedic injuries or illnesses

Managing concussions as well as coordinating both return to learn (RTL), and return to play (RTP) protocols for student-athletes.

Treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of athletes with athletic/orthopedic injury or illnesses

Supervision, Organization, and administration of the athletic training program and facilities. Duties may include but are not limited to: ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, maintaining medical records on EMR system, injury reports, and daily treatment logs.

Provide athletic training coverage for home athletic events, and practices.

Coordinate efforts with coaches, caregivers, and other qualified allied health professionals.

Supply teams with appropriate medical kits for their activities.

Supervision, and maintenance of the athletic training room.

Implementation and management of Athletic Emergency Action Plans & Coordination with local emergency responders.

Professional development, maintaining NATABOC certification, and VT State Licensure.

Refer student-athletes to physicians and other medical personnel as needed.

Performs other duties and services as assigned by the Director of Student Activities.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and valid ATC/CAT certification

Certified in Professional Rescuer First Aid, CPR, and AED

Licensed by the State of Vermont

Strong organizational and communication skills
Work Year: Remainder of the 2026-27 school year
Classification: Temporary Non Union Support Staff
Pay and Benefits: Competitive salary $40-60/hour
