Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and client-focused Personal Injury Litigation Attorney to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background representing plaintiffs in personal injury matters and experience handling cases through litigation. This role requires excellent advocacy, negotiation, and case management skills, along with a commitment to delivering exceptional results and client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a litigation caseload from filing through resolution, including case strategy development and execution.
- Represent clients in personal injury matters involving motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, and other negligence-based claims.
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, settlement demands, and other legal documents.
- Conduct and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, experts, and treating physicians.
- Prepare cases for mediation, arbitration, and trial.
- Negotiate settlements with insurance carriers and defense counsel to maximize client recovery.
- Conduct legal research, investigate claims, gather evidence, and evaluate liability and damages.
- Analyze medical records, accident reports, and expert opinions to assess case value.
- Appear at hearings, case management conferences, mediations, arbitrations, and other court proceedings.
- Maintain proactive communication with clients regarding case developments, strategy, and expectations.
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure efficient case progression and outstanding client service.
Qualifications
Required
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active California Bar license in good standing.
- At least 5 years of plaintiff-side personal injury litigation experience; 10+ years preferred.
- Experience managing a litigation caseload independently.
- Experience taking and defending depositions.
- Strong knowledge of California civil procedure and personal injury litigation.
- Excellent legal writing, research, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Trial experience, including first-chair or second-chair responsibilities.
- Experience handling catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases.
- Experience working with medical experts, accident reconstruction experts, and life care planners.
- Proficiency with Lead Docket, Filevine, or similar case management software.
- Demonstrated history of securing favorable settlements and verdicts.
