Position Summary:
The 2D/3D Art Teacher will be responsible for the overall development and growth of the visual arts program at Cardinal Gibbons High School. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional art, with experience across multiple media such as drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, and/or digital art. The candidate will teach foundational and advanced art courses and actively contribute to the school’s broader arts culture. Candidates with experience collaborating with performing arts programs or supporting theatrical productions through visual design (sets, props, costumes, or visual storytelling) are strongly encouraged to apply. This teacher performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Duties assigned but not limited to:
- Instructing courses that include 2D and 3D art, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, or other visual art classes
- Developing and maintaining a comprehensive visual arts curriculum that supports student creativity, technical skill, and artistic growth
- Supervising and mentoring student artists during class time and for after-school projects, exhibitions, or school events
- Collaborating with performing arts colleagues to support productions through visual design elements such as props, costumes, set pieces, or artwork when applicable
- Coordinating and producing all visual art components for exhibitions, festivals, competitions, and school-wide events
- Supporting student participation in art shows, festivals, and trips related to the visual arts program
Qualifications of Candidates:
Education:
- High School or GED
- Bachelor’s Degree in B.A. or B.F.A. in Art or a related field and relevant professional experience.
- Master’s Degree in B.A. or B.F.A. in Art or a related field and relevant professional experience preferred.
Certifications: Temporary or Professional required in 9-12.
Years of Experience: 3 years or more
Software Skills: Notability, iPad, Adobe
Other Job Knowledge, Skills, Ability, Behaviors: Experience teaching all levels of art from beginner to advanced. Flexible attitude towards duties and working patterns in order to fulfill the requirements of the role. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to build good supportive relationships with students, colleagues, and the school community
