Job Summary
The Community-School Liaison (CSL) will be located at the Family Resource Centers
(FRC’s) located at Nevada County Schools to improve school support systems and offer coordinated resources for students and families. The CSL will work to unify our county's schools, programs, activities, community agencies and other stakeholders to develop an integrated, sustainable system of support for students and their families through resource education and providing access to available resources. The CSL will work with parents and children to support their needs using the Protective Factors Framework for family strengthening and effective family support service delivery.
Directly Responsible to: FRC Coordinator
Supervisory Responsibilities: None; however, may lead, train or participate in team work assignments.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: The list of essential functions and physical requirements is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Not all functions may be performed by incumbent.

2. Assist in improving partnerships between parents and school personnel as appropriate and support student and family success.
3. Refer families to appropriate resources, such as, PARTNERS Promotora so language barriers are minimized or removed.
4. Schedule, coordinate, publicize, and deliver extracurricular activities for early childhood families and K- 8 children.
5. Promote FRC activities in regular digital or printed newsletters, flyers, updated websites, at public meetings and through community outreach. Support and/or provide recreation or education programs by coordinating enrollment and outreach, and working with community agencies to provide activities and staffing the program as necessary.
6. Schedule and coordinate services to satellite, charter schools, or home school programs.
7. Assist parents in identifying and addressing the needs of students and their families and of community families with young children not yet in school.
8. Under direction from the FRC Coordinator, coordinate and collaborate with community leaders and organizations such as social services, public health, and non-profit agencies for the purpose of building resources, develop needed services, and expanding program capabilities to better serve families.
9. Report and request needed facility repairs and, as authorized, coordinate janitorial staff or other contractors.
10. Maintain clean, safe, and organized facilities.
11. Work closely with law enforcement agencies/juvenile authorities on behalf of students and community members.
12. Provide parenting support and workshops.
13. Outreach and assist families with supporting their child's and their own physical and social/emotional needs, motivate them to succeed, and provide them resources as needed.
14. Maintain database of student/parent/community/agency contacts and volunteers.
15. Maintain current community and school resource information for purposes of referring and connecting students and families to appropriate support services.
16. Organize or participate in various activities and events (e.g. presentations, family events, literacy events, forums, volunteer opportunities, etc.) providing support to schools and parents, showcasing students' talents and abilities, and celebrating the diversity of the community.
17. As directed, participate on relevant committees/boards and attend relevant trainings to support quality and best practices.
18. Perform record keeping, data collection and clerical functions (e.g. data collection/management, intake/referral forms, case management files, answering phones, scheduling, copying, crafting newsletters, translation, writing reports, etc..) for the purpose of supporting various grant directives and evaluation activities.
19. Recruit parent and community volunteers to co-facilitate curricula, lead/teach extracurricular activities, provide event support or otherwise provide assistance to the
FRC programs.
20. Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.

22. May be required to travel to/from several school sites to perform job duties and work some evenings or weekends.

- Computer programs including: Publisher, Excel, and other Microsoft Office programs
- Fluently communicating in Spanish; orally and written form, highly desirable
Ability to:
- Provide coordination among numerous schools and community agencies
- Develop strong rapport with students, parents, school staff and other community agency members
- Manage multiple projects with different timelines

- Physical strength and agility to push, pull and lift any object weighing up to 25 pounds and carry any object weighing up to 15 pounds

Education and Experience
A combination of training and experience, which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities, may be qualifying. We reserve the right to determine if a candidate meets the qualifications.
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- Completion of an Associate’s Degree with major course work in education, psychology, social work, early childhood education, human development or other closely related field.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience working with children, youth, families and/or teachers and experience in education, early childhood programs, mentoring or similar social services program.

Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
Must possess a valid California Driver’s License
