ATECH, Inc. in Huntsville, Alabama is a manufacturer of life saving Aircraft Arresting Systems. These systems are installed on airfields and consist of a catching device and energy absorbers, used to arrest fighter aircraft in distress situations of aborted take-off or troubled landing.
Our team at ATECH assembles, tests, maintains and supervises the installation of aircraft arresting systems at airbases both domestically and internationally. Our contracts are primarily for the delivery of systems and spare parts for operational systems in the field. As a result of a significant increase in the volume of awarded contracts, ATECH is seeking additional professional staff to join our team.
The position as Assembly Technician requires you to be mechanically adept, proficient at reading drawings and following work instructions. The position is expected to work independently with “as needed” support from senior level technicians and will successively be assigned more demanding assignments with increased experience.
The ideal candidate will have industrial maintenance experience on equivalent mechanical systems. A level of theoretical engineering/ technical background is a plus.
Detailed Description:
· Follow technical instructions, drawings, and work procedures
· Build assemblies/systems using appropriate mechanical tools
· Execute factory testing and check-outs
· Maintain assembly and test records
· Perform all other related duties as assigned
Skills/Experience
· High School Diploma required. Associates degree preferred
· 3+ years’ experience in a production environment
· Practical and technical skills
· Experienced with mechanical tools
· Ability to analyze and solve problems
· Ability to self-motivate and take responsibility for assignment
· Ability to work and learn independently as well as be a strong team player when required
· Able to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels and areas of the business
· Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time
· Physical ability to lift heavy objects (50 lbs.) at chest height
· Forklift certified (preferred)
