Job Summary
AutoCAD Drafter Level 1 will provide AutoCAD drawings of building floor plans, simple isometric plans, and build and maintain templates used in the engineering department. Provide drafting assistance to the engineering department design teams as directed by the engineering manager. Assist design teams in building the submittal packages required for submittal to the authority having jurisdiction. Maintain the engineering library as directed by the engineering manager.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Communicate with architects, engineers, contractors, end users, and sales staff to gather project, building, and product information for assigned projects.
- Coordinate with the Jorgensen project managers, designers, and field technicians.
- Prepare and review rough sketches and review them with the design teams.
- Create detailed design drawings using AutoCAD software.
- Calculate dimensions, weight limitations, and manufacture requirements for equipment or systems to be used on projects.
- Design details, diagrams, maps, and layouts to illustrate workflow.
- Identify potential operational issues and redesign.
- Assist the design team in collecting the equipment data sheets for the projects.
- Assist the design team in collecting the California State Fire Marshal Sheets for all fire alarm equipment.
- Assist the design team in producing the equipment data submittal books for the projects.
- Build and maintain engineering department drafting templates.
- Maintain the engineering department’s library.
- Provide assistance to the design teams on various projects as directed by the engineering manager.
Qualifications:
- Minimum education level: High School graduate or G.E.D.
- Completed and passed with a “B” basic course in AutoCAD, or two years of drafting experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Ability to read construction plans, or willingness to learn.
- Good math skills.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Details oriented.
- Ability to work with minimal direction.
- Knowledge of fire protection systems, kitchen hood fire suppression systems, and construction submittal procedures are a plus.
- Valid Driver License and driving record that is acceptable by our Insurance Policy.
