Ambulatory Nurse Educator – Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Far Rockaway & Rockaway Park, NY
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay: $82.00 – $93.33 per hour
Custom Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Ambulatory Nurse Educator (RN) for an exciting opportunity with a healthcare system in the Far Rockaway/Rockaway Park area.
The Nurse Educator will support clinical education and professional development across six ambulatory care sites and must be comfortable traveling between locations. This position works closely with ambulatory leadership and clinical teams to provide staff education, orientation, competency validation, coaching, and ongoing professional development.
Ambulatory Nurse Educator (RN) Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical education programs for ambulatory staff
- Coordinate onboarding and orientation for RNs, LPNs, and Medical Assistants
- Develop and validate annual and ongoing staff competencies
- Provide education on clinical policies, procedures, infection prevention, patient safety, care coordination, and regulatory standards
- Identify learning and competency gaps and develop appropriate education or remediation plans
- Support new clinical workflows, equipment, and electronic health record initiatives
- Serve as a clinical resource, mentor, and coach for ambulatory staff
- Collaborate with nursing leadership, physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams
- Assist with regulatory readiness, quality improvement, and accreditation initiatives
- Travel between all six ambulatory locations in Far Rockaway and Rockaway Park
Ambulatory Nurse Educator (RN) Qualifications:
- Current and unrestricted New York State RN license
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience
- Ambulatory care experience required
- Previous experience with staff education, clinical instruction, orientation, precepting, or nursing leadership strongly preferred
- Strong communication, presentation, leadership, and coaching skills
- Experience developing educational programs, competencies, or orientation programs preferred
- Master's degree in Nursing, Nursing Education, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is strongly preferred
- Ambulatory Care Nursing (AMB-BC), Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC), or other relevant specialty certification is a plus
Pay: $82.00 – $93.33 per hour
