Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to determine care needs.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols, including IV infusion and injection administration.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and Cerner to document patient information meticulously and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide specialized nursing care in areas such as critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, hospice & palliative medicine, and behavioral health.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing, catheterization procedures, suturing, and sterile processing techniques.
- Manage complex cases involving trauma medicine, ICU or PICU experience, trauma center protocols, or Level I/II trauma center standards.
- Support discharge planning and case management efforts to coordinate long-term care or post-acute services for diverse patient populations.
Requirements
- Valid RN license in good standing with current state regulations.
- Proven experience working in fast-paced environments such as hospital medicine, emergency room, ICU, or specialty clinics like ophthalmology or occupational health.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical documentation standards.
- Hands-on experience with IV insertion, phlebotomy, aseptic technique, ventilator management, and infection control practices.
- Critical care experience preferred; additional expertise in cardiac catheterization, dialysis support, trauma medicine or neonatal resuscitation is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or those requiring memory care or dementia support.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care across diverse populations including pediatrics and geriatrics.
