We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and clinically skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Med/Surg team in La Junta, Colorado.

As a Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse, you will provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients across pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. You will assess patient needs, develop and implement individualized care plans, coordinate interdisciplinary services, and support patients and families throughout their hospital stay.
This role requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication, flexibility, and a commitment to safe, compassionate care.
- Provide direct and indirect patient care in the Medical/Surgical setting
- Perform comprehensive head‑to‑toe assessments and ongoing reassessments per policy
- Administer medications safely and appropriately based on patient age and clinical condition
- Revise and evaluate plans of care based on patient response and daily effectiveness
- Perform nursing treatments and interventions in accordance with standards of care
- Assist physicians with procedures requiring technical and manual skills
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment
- Operate and manage patient care equipment safely and correctly
- Coordinate and supervise patient care activities as needed
- Understand and assist in implementing hospital core measures
- Communicate professionally with physicians, the Medical/Surgical Nursing Director, coworkers, and interdisciplinary team members
- Consult other departments to support a coordinated, interdisciplinary approach to care
- Serve as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers
- Maintain strong working relationships within the department and across the organization
- Treat patients and families with respect, dignity, and compassion
- Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs
- Involve patients and families in developing the plan of care
- Develop and implement teaching plans based on identified learning needs
- Educate patients and families on pain management strategies and treatments
- Maintain accurate, legible, and timely documentation per hospital standards
- Collaborate with social services and discharge planners regarding in‑hospital and post‑discharge needs
- Perform general nursing duties across departments with appropriate supervision
- Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and the ability to function effectively in stressful situations
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) License in good standing
- Current BLS Certification
