Maintenance Technician I

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician I for a direct-hire opportunity at an established manufacturing facility in Prairie du Sac, WI.
This is a hands-on industrial maintenance position responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, rebuilding, and installing production and facility equipment. The ideal candidate has a broad mechanical skill set with experience in industrial machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, basic electrical systems, PLC controls, welding, fabrication, and general plant maintenance.
Compensation
Starting pay ranges from $33–$34 per hour, depending on experience and technical background.
Employees working 2nd or 3rd shift receive an additional 3.5% shift premium.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on manufacturing and facility equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and machine-control issues
- Perform minor electrical repairs
- Troubleshoot and work with basic PLC and machine control systems
- Maintain production machinery and assembly equipment
- Maintain heating systems, compressors, plumbing, and other facility systems
- Diagnose equipment problems and complete necessary repairs
- Rebuild or fabricate replacement parts for machinery and plant equipment
- Install new manufacturing equipment
- Remove and relocate existing machinery and equipment
- Use hand tools, power tools, welders, torches, and maintenance equipment
- Perform welding and fabrication work as necessary
- Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment
- Assist other maintenance technicians with repairs and projects
- Complete scheduled maintenance assignments according to supervisor instructions
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas
- Follow established safety procedures and properly use tools and equipment
- Complete work accurately and efficiently while maintaining quality standards
- Perform additional maintenance duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance or a related field preferred
- One-year certificate from a college or technical school, or
- 6–12 months of related maintenance experience and/or training, or
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- General knowledge of industrial machine and plant repair
- Mechanical troubleshooting ability
- Basic knowledge of PLC controls
- Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
- Basic electrical troubleshooting and repair knowledge
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
- Welding and fabrication aptitude
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality

Physical Requirements
- Stand and/or walk for the entire shift
- Frequently bend, reach, and perform hands-on maintenance work
- Frequently lift approximately 30–40 pounds without assistance
- Occasionally lift or maneuver up to approximately 70 pounds, with or without assistance as appropriate
- Work safely around moving mechanical equipment
- Work in typical industrial plant conditions
Work Environment
This position works directly within an active manufacturing facility. Employees may regularly work around moving machinery and may be exposed to:
