Position Overview
Almond Tree NY is seeking a Health & Safety Monitor to support affiliated family child care providers in maintaining compliance with applicable OCFS, DOHMH, and DOE health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
This is a field-based position that requires regular travel throughout the service area to visit providers, conduct monitoring activities, provide guidance, and support continuous improvement in health and safety practices.
Schedule: 30–40 hours per week
Pay: $20–$21 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Visit affiliated provider homes monthly and complete required health and safety monitoring activities.
- Conduct DOE monitoring and support the proper implementation of applicable OCFS/DOHMH and DOE health and safety requirements.
- Identify health, safety, and compliance concerns and provide providers with guidance and recommendations for corrective action.
- Follow up with providers regarding identified concerns and corrective action plans as needed.
- Document provider visits, monitoring results, communication, and follow-up activities accurately and promptly.
- Monitor OCFS and DOE requirements related to licensing, registration, and health and safety practices.
- Confirm that assigned providers remain free of DOHMH violations and address concerns when identified.
- Build professional and supportive relationships with providers and assist them in meeting required training and professional-learning standards.
- Maintain accurate, current documentation, records, and provider files.
- Work with Family Workers to connect caregivers with appropriate resources and community-partner referrals.
- Help create and update the Community Partner Resource Guide.
- Assist with provider recruitment and affiliation activities.
- Support the coordination of professional learning and training days.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Associate Degree required.
- Fluent Spanish required.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the service area to visit provider homes.
- Own vehicle preferred.
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Professional, reliable, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work collaboratively with providers, Family Workers, and other team members.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a supportive, solutions-focused approach.
- Understanding of or willingness to learn applicable child care health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and follow through on compliance-related matters.

We are looking for someone who is professional, organized, dependable, and comfortable working directly with child care providers in the field. The ideal candidate is able to travel between provider locations, communicate expectations clearly, identify areas requiring improvement, and provide supportive coaching to help providers maintain safe, healthy, and compliant environments for children.
