Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and reliability of all production equipment and facility systems. This role involves coordinating preventative maintenance schedules, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting facility upkeep to minimize downtime and optimize productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance & Reliability: Performs routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs for production equipment. Coordinate with the Maintenance team to ensure that machinery operates reliably and meets safety and quality standards.
- Facility Maintenance: Support the upkeep of the facility infrastructure, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and building systems. Monitor and address any facility issues to maintain a safe, clean, and functional work environment.
- Maintenance Scheduling: Support preventative maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and lifespan. Coordinate with manufacturing teams to minimize disruptions during maintenance activities.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose issues, and perform or coordinate repairs. Collaborate with external contractors as needed for specialized repairs.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate maintenance records, including inspection reports, service logs, and work orders. Ensure compliance with GMP, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
- Safety & Training: Promote a culture of safety by following and enforcing safety protocols. Provide basic training on equipment safety and maintenance best practices to operators and manufacturing staff.
- Process Improvement: Identify and recommend improvements in maintenance procedures and equipment reliability to increase operational efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.
- Support Team Activities: Assist team members with tasks as needed and work collaboratively to meet production goals. Assist with any other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate’s degree in a related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in equipment maintenance or facilities coordination, ideally within the food, supplement, or related manufacturing industries.
Skills:
- Strong mechanical and technical skills with a solid understanding of production equipment, including Stickpack, Encapsulation, Blister, Bottling, etc.
- Knowledge of facility systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and basic repair procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues quickly and efficiently.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Proficient in maintenance management software and MS Office for record-keeping and scheduling.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with machinery, moderate noise, and temperature variations.
Shift:
- M-Th or M-Fr Day Shift (time variable based on applicant preference, but must skew towards mornings)
