McGuirk Sand & Gravel is expanding and currently hiring for our excavation team. We are seeking experienced and dependable individuals for the following positions:
- Equipment Operators
- Construction Laborers
- Class A CDL Drivers
These positions involve a variety of site work activities including excavation, backfilling, underground utility installation (sewer/water), and road building. Some travel outside the Mt. Pleasant area may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, rollers, and backhoes
- Perform excavation, grading, and material handling tasks
- Assist with manual labor including shoveling and site preparation/cleanup
- Read grade stakes, blueprints, and follow site plans
- Inspect and maintain equipment; report issues promptly
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA/MIOSHA/MSHA regulations
- Work as part of a team to complete projects efficiently and safely
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous construction or equipment operation experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license required; Class A CDL preferred (or ability to obtain)
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to read grades and understand construction plans
- Mechanically inclined with knowledge of equipment and tools
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to safety
- Ability to work extended hours, 5–6 days per week, and perform physical labor
