Position Summary
Scale Marketing is seeking a Senior Accountant to support our accounting function through accurate general ledger management, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial close activities. This role helps maintain reliable financial records, supports reporting needs, and contributes to the improvement of accounting processes and internal controls. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work collaboratively across Finance and other internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger Management
- Maintain the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
- Oversee the chart of accounts structure and ensure proper classification of transactions.
- Review and analyze GL activity for anomalies, coding issues, and unusual variances; escalate findings as appropriate.
Journal Entries
- Prepare, review, and post standard and non-standard journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, prepaid amortization, depreciation, and reclassifications.
- Ensure journal entries are properly supported with appropriate documentation and approvals.
- Maintain recurring journal entry schedules and manage monthly accrual processes.
- Assist in identifying and correcting errors through timely correcting entries.
Account Reconciliations
- Perform timely and accurate reconciliations for a wide range of balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accrued liabilities, intercompany accounts, and deferred revenue.
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items and outstanding discrepancies on a timely basis.
- Maintain and enforce standardized reconciliation templates and schedules.
- Coordinate with AP, AR, and Payroll teams to ensure subledger agreement with the general ledger.
Financial Close & Reporting
- Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes; meet all close deadlines.
- Prepare and distribute financial reports, variance analyses, and supporting schedules for management review.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and supporting footnote disclosures.
- Provide documentation and analysis to support external audits as needed.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve accuracy, and enhance internal controls.
- Document accounting policies and procedures for assigned areas.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, with strong general ledger and reconciliation expertise.
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing journal entries in an ERP environment (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and complex formulas.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced close environment.
Preferred:
- Public accounting experience (Big 4 or regional firm).
- Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
- Marketing agency experience is a plus.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
