Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and cleared Systems Engineer to oversee, optimize, and maintain complex, mission-critical enterprise infrastructure within a secure federal contracting environment. This role is designed for a technical professional who thrives in high-consequence environments, managing concurrent workstreams across dual-OS architectures, hybrid-cloud deployments, and rigorous compliance frameworks.
The ideal candidate will drive infrastructure modernization, spearhead complex troubleshooting efforts, and enforce cybersecurity postures aligned with CMMC Level 2, NIST, and DoD directives. This position offers the opportunity to independently manage enterprise-grade systems while serving as a senior technical escalation point for critical operational challenges.
Core Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Administer, maintain, and modernize enterprise-level Microsoft Windows Server and Linux environments across hybrid on-premises and AWS cloud architectures.
- Security & Compliance: Implement robust cybersecurity hardening methodologies, manage system/software upgrades, execute vulnerability patching, and ensure alignment with DISA STIGs and RMF standards.
- Database & Automation: Support enterprise databases using SQL and DBEdit; streamline administrative workflows and systems deployment through advanced PowerShell and Bash scripting.
- Systems Engineering: Lead secure systems engineering initiatives, manage encryption technologies, and optimize secure network configurations.
- Tiered Support & Escalation: Serve as a Tier 2/Tier 3 technical escalation point, troubleshooting complex issues across servers, workstations, custom applications, and core infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
- Security Clearance: Active, verifiable TS/SCI clearance.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in systems engineering or systems administration.
- Support Background: Proven background in IT support, including a minimum of 2+ years of Tier 2/Tier 3 enterprise help desk or advanced technical support experience.
- Operating Systems: Deep operational proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Windows Server, and various Linux distributions.
- Scripting & Databases: Hands-on experience with SQL, DBEdit, and automation via PowerShell and Bash scripting.
- Infrastructure & Cloud: Strong background managing on-premises deployments alongside Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environments.
- Operations: Demonstrable expertise in routine lifecycle management, including software upgrades, security patching, and multi-system orchestration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Technical Certifications:
- Cloud: AWS Certified Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator.
- Microsoft/Linux: MCSA, MCSE, Azure certifications, RHCSA, RHCE, or Linux+.
- Cybersecurity: Security+, CISSP, or CASP+.
- Tooling & Platforms: Hands-on experience with VMware, Hyper-V, Ansible, SCCM/MECM, Splunk, Nessus, and advanced endpoint security platforms.
- Frameworks: Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF), DISA STIGs, and NIST SP 800-171.
- Ability to travel both Domestic and International
Pay: $178,414.83 - $223,435.05 per year
