SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Melt Supervisor, the laborer is responsible for ensuring that all molds are properly set up according to standard procedure for each job. They are also responsible for assisting in the pouring process and unclamping molds after they are poured.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Fit molds with clamps, pouring dishes, cups, filters and risers following standard procedures.
- Ensure that molds are clean and free of debris before pouring.
- Clean molds that have debris, and cover openings until ready to pour.
- Remove clamps from poured molds only after the designated time for safe clamp removal.
- Assist in pouring operations- i.e. add hot topping to risers after pour
- Check unpoured molds for any damage that may have occurred during transfer to the floor.
- Repair any damaged molds.
- Measure molds to determine the size of clamps to be used.
- Return all clamps and other unused equipment to their proper storage space.
- Assist in the training of new employees
- Inform the leadman/supervisor of any inventory that is running low
- Report on all unsafe conditions to the supervisor
- Inform leadman/supervisor of any problems that may lead to scrap
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
QUALIFICATIONS

Work Experience Needed: One to three years of verifiable work history. Experience working in a foundry environment is preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one situations to other employees of the organization.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch and to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift/and or move items up to 10 lbs., frequently lift to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
TOOLS/EQUIPMENT USED
The laborer regularly uses a hammer, wooden wedges and clamps. The employee frequently uses an air pipe and glue.
