About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Molecular Laboratory Technician II to join our clinical laboratory team. This individual will perform high-complexity molecular testing, support quality assurance initiatives, and help ensure the timely and accurate processing of patient specimens.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced laboratory environment while maintaining the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Perform molecular diagnostic testing in accordance with laboratory SOPs and quality standards.
- Process, accession, and prepare patient specimens for analysis.
- Perform nucleic acid extraction and PCR-based testing.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
- Review quality control data and identify testing issues requiring corrective action.
- Accurately document laboratory activities within the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Maintain compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements.
- Prepare reagents and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies.
- Assist with assay validations, proficiency testing, and continuous quality improvement projects.
- Train and mentor junior laboratory personnel as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready laboratory environment.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on molecular laboratory experience.
- Experience with PCR or other molecular diagnostic techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred
- Experience in a CLIA-certified clinical laboratory.
- Familiarity with real-time PCR (qPCR), RT-PCR, and molecular assay workflows.
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, and regulatory requirements.
