Position Summary
E.L. Pruitt Company is hiring a Safety Director to lead the development and continuous improvement of our company-wide safety program. This individual will be responsible for establishing best-in-class safety processes, strengthening our safety culture, ensuring compliance, and partnering with operations leadership to make safety a core value throughout the organization. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can build programs, influence behavior, and drive accountability from the field to executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's safety program.
- Foster a proactive safety culture that emphasizes employee engagement, ownership, and accountability.
- Partner with operations and field leadership to integrate safety into all phases of project planning and execution.
- Develop safety policies, procedures, training programs, and performance metrics.
- Conduct site visits, audits, and risk assessments to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning to prevent future occurrences.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators to measure safety performance, identify trends, and implement corrective action as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, client requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Mentor and develop field supervisors and project teams in best safety practices.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on all safety-related matters.
Qualifications
Required
- 10+ years of construction safety experience, preferably within commercial mechanical, civil, and site Utilities.
- 5+ years in a safety leadership role with responsibility for multi-site operations.
- Must have experience with confined spaces and trench safety requirements.
- Demonstrated success developing and implementing safety programs and management systems.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, incident investigation, risk assessment, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to influence and drive a strong safety culture.
- Experience creating and delivering safety training programs.
- Proven ability to influence field personnel, supervisors, project managers, and executives.
- Strong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage, maintain, and audit safety documentation, training records, certifications, incident reports, corrective actions, and regulatory compliance records.
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
- Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
- OSHA 500 Certification
- Experience in mechanical construction, site utilities, piping, HVAC, plumbing, and fabrication
- Experience supporting a workforce of 200+ employees across multiple project locations.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Management or related field is preferred.
Pay: $85,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
