KITCHEN PREP LEAD
Position Overview
The Kitchen Prep Lead plays an important role in keeping the Sorta kitchen organized, stocked, and ready for service. This position is responsible for preparing ingredients and menu components according to Sorta's recipes, portion specifications, and quality standards.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, organized, productive, detail-oriented, and takes pride in doing things correctly.
What We Expect
The Kitchen Prep Lead should be able to work independently while also communicating effectively with the rest of the team.
During each shift, employees are expected to:
- Follow Sorta recipes and preparation instructions.
- Prepare food accurately and consistently.
- Maintain proper portion sizes.
- Keep prep areas clean and organized.
- Properly label, date, rotate, and store food.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Properly handling raw and ready-to-eat foods.
- Preventing cross-contamination.
- Maintaining appropriate temperatures and food safety practices.
- Sanitizing prep surfaces.
- Cleaning cookware and utensils.
- Cleaning and organizing prep equipment.
- Maintaining clean floors and surrounding areas.
- Taking out trash when necessary.
- Cleaning and organizing storage areas.
- Completing end-of-shift cleaning assignments.
- Preparing products in the quantities needed for service.
- Woking well as part of a team.
- Is willing to jump in wherever needed.
- Greeting customers with a friendly and welcoming attitude.
- Engaging with customers and providing a positive experience.
- Taking customer orders when needed.
- Operating the POS system.
- Processing cash and card transactions.
- Answering basic questions about the menu.
- Helping customers make selections when appropriate.
- Maintaining a positive, upbeat, and professional attitude.
Overall requirements revolve around food safety, food quality, and excellent, prompt customer service. Applicants should be able to work quickly during rush periods but be productive in cleaning and prep when there are less customers.
