Position Summary
Witmer Wood Products is seeking a skilled, hands-on Maintenance Technician to keep our manufacturing equipment and facility operating safely and efficiently. This position is responsible for the preventive maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting, our industrial woodworking machinery and production facility.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, organized, proactive, and takes pride in preventing problems before they occur. This role is critical to maximizing machine uptime, maintaining product quality, and supporting a safe working environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Industrial Equipment Maintenance
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual preventive maintenance on all production equipment.
- Maintain maintenance schedules and ensure services are completed on time.
- Inspect machinery for wear, damage, or potential failures.
- Lubricate, adjust, clean, calibrate, and service equipment according to manufacturer recommendations.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues.
- Respond quickly to production equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate major repairs with outside service providers when necessary.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation.
Facility Maintenance
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance throughout the facility.
- Maintain HVAC systems, compressed air systems, lighting, plumbing, and building infrastructure.
- Assist with snow removal, landscaping, and exterior building maintenance.
- Maintain forklifts, dust collection systems, air compressors, and other support equipment.
- Ensure all shop equipment remains clean, organized, and in good working condition.
Safety
- Follow all OSHA and company safety policies.
- Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance.
- Maintain guards, safety devices, emergency stops, and machine safety systems.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions before they become hazards.
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with industrial equipment or similar manufacturing machinery.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, manuals, and parts diagrams.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting (480V three-phase experience preferred).
- Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to safely use power tools, grinders, lifts, and hand tools.
Preferred
- Experience maintaining industrial woodworking equipment.
- Forklift certification..
- Knowledge of dust collection systems and compressed air systems.
- Basic PLC troubleshooting experience.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 75 pounds.
- Stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Comfortable working around industrial machinery.
- Ability to work at heights using lifts or ladders.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures inside a manufacturing environment.
