As our practice continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) Technician to join our clinical team. This position is ideal for a highly skilled professional who is committed to patient safety, operational excellence, and delivering exceptional clinical care.
Position Summary
The Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Technician is responsible for the safe operation of hyperbaric oxygen chambers and the administration of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy under the direction of the supervising physician and licensed clinical staff. The technician will monitor patients throughout treatment, ensure compliance with all hyperbaric safety standards, maintain accurate documentation, and support the delivery of exceptional neurological care.
Because patient safety is paramount, prior Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy experience is required.
Primary Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Prepare patients for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy treatments.
- Complete pre-treatment safety screenings and verify treatment readiness.
- Educate patients regarding HBOT procedures and safety requirements.
- Continuously monitor patients throughout treatment and respond appropriately to changes in condition.
- Immediately communicate patient concerns or adverse events to the supervising physician or licensed clinical staff.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
- Ensure informed consent and required treatment documentation are complete before each session.
Hyperbaric Chamber Operations
- Safely operate monoplace and/or multiplace hyperbaric chambers.
- Perform daily equipment inspections, chamber checks, and operational testing.
- Monitor chamber pressure, oxygen delivery systems, and treatment parameters.
- Maintain treatment logs and equipment documentation.
- Assist with preventative maintenance and coordinate service needs as appropriate.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with UHMS, NFPA, OSHA, and all applicable regulatory standards.
- Maintain a safe treatment environment for patients and staff.
- Participate in emergency response procedures and chamber safety drills.
- Ensure treatment rooms and equipment are cleaned and maintained according to infection prevention standards.
- Participate in quality improvement and continuous competency training.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, therapists, and administrative staff.
- Communicate professionally with patients and families.
- Support clinic operations and contribute to a positive, patient-centered culture.
- Assist with additional clinical responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
Required:
- Minimum of two years of clinical healthcare experience in one of the following:
- EMT or Paramedic
- LVN or RN
- Respiratory Therapist
- Medical Assistant
- Military Corpsman
- Physician Assistant
- Nurse Practitioner
- Previous Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy experience is required.
Certifications
Required:
- Current clinical license or certification appropriate to role (EMT, Paramedic, LVN, RN, Respiratory Therapist, or equivalent).
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association).
- Current Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) or Certified Hyperbaric Wound Specialist (CHWS).
Preferred:
- ACLS certification.
- Additional wound care or hyperbaric medicine certifications.
Qualifications & Skills
