Qualifications:
- Current and valid SC SLI (South Carolina Sign Language Interpreter) license or certification.
- Previous experience interpreting in educational or K-12 settings preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret accurately and confidentially.
- Dependable, flexible, and able to adjust to varied classroom environments.
- Commitment to working onsite throughout the full assignment.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa for students, teachers, and staff during the school day.
- Support students’ participation in classroom activities, discussions, and school events.
- Collaborate effectively with educators and other professionals to ensure student needs are being met.
- Maintain student confidentiality and display professionalism at all times.
- Serve as a resource for staff regarding communication strategies and Deaf culture awareness.
