COMPOSITE BOAT BUILDER / ASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN
Monday-Thursday: 6:30 AM - 3:30 PM | Friday: 6:30 AM - 2:30 PM
Sunsation Powerboats is growing, and we are looking for a motivated Assembly Technician to join the team responsible for turning individual components into finished, assembled boats.
This is not an assembly-line position. This position requires a craftsman.
Our Assembly Department plays a critical role in every boat we build. You will work hands-on with hulls, decks, mechanical systems, hardware, and other components as the boat begins to take its final form. The work is fast-paced, highly visible, and requires someone who takes pride in doing things the right way.
We are looking for someone who wants more than just a job. For the right person, this is an opportunity to develop a skilled trade, become part of an industry-leading boat manufacturer, and grow alongside a company with significant opportunity ahead of it.
Advancement opportunities are available for ambitious, goal-oriented employees who are willing to learn, work hard, and take ownership of their craft.
Willing to train the right individual.
What You'll Do
As an Assembly Technician, you will help outfit and conjoin hulls, decks, and small parts to create an assembled boat sitting on a trailer.
The Assembly Department installs and integrates many of the systems and components that bring the boat together, including fuel tanks, fuel system components, wiring harnesses, water tanks and systems, deck hardware, through-hull fittings, and more.
Responsibilities include:
- Assembly of hull and deck
- Perform basic 12V electrical work
- Basic rigging of fuel and water systems
- Installation of custom-fit rub rails and stainless inserts
- Installation of basic deck and hull hardware
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a motivated, mechanically minded individual who enjoys working with their hands, takes pride in the finished product, and wants to develop a skilled trade.
Experience in marine, automotive, custom fabrication, cabinetry, or construction-related work is beneficial, but not required. We understand that experienced boat builders are difficult to find in our area, and we are willing to train the right person who brings the right attitude, work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
The ideal candidate is someone who approaches their work like a craftsman - careful, precise, mechanically capable, and focused on quality rather than simply getting the job done quickly.
Previous hands-on experience is beneficial, but not required. We are willing to train the right individual.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a strong work ethic and positive team mentality
- Take a high level of pride in their workmanship
- Have strong attention to detail and be quality-minded
- Be capable of working in a fast-paced environment
- Be mechanically inclined
- Be able to multi-task as priorities change
- Be able to understand and follow instructions in both oral and written form
- Be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Have reliable transportation
- Have a cordless drill set and basic hand tools
Starting Pay
$18 - $22
Benefits
We believe hard work should come with a strong quality of life outside of work as well.
- Regular hours with weekends off
- 401K with match
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Short-term & long-term disability
- Profit sharing
- Paid time off up to 4 weeks
- Paid holidays
