Type of Work – Flatbed Hotshot Driver
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Flatbed Hotshot Driver to join our team. This position involves hauling time-sensitive freight using a pickup truck and flatbed trailer, with a strong emphasis on load securement, tarping, and safe transport practices.
Position Details
- Operating a Pickup Truck & Flatbed Trailer
- Transporting freight locally and over-the-road
- Securing loads using chains, binders, straps, and tarps
- Ensuring on-time pickup and delivery
- Salary: $65,000 annually
- Full-time position
Flatbed Hotshot Driver Responsibilities:
- Safely transport freight while following all DOT and company regulations.
- Properly secure all loads using chains, ratchet binders, straps, edge protectors, and tarps.
- Demonstrate knowledge of weight distribution, load balance, and legal cargo securement requirements.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of truck, trailer, and cargo.
- Inspect freight for damage and verify load accuracy before departure.
- Maintain communication with dispatch and customers regarding pickup and delivery updates.
- Complete logs, bills of lading, and required paperwork accurately and promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and overall condition of truck and trailer equipment.
- Report maintenance issues and assist with minor equipment upkeep.
- Provide professional customer service at pickup and delivery locations.
Qualifications / Skills:
- Flatbed or hotshot experience preferred
- Must know how to tarp loads efficiently and safely
- Experience using chains, ratchet binders, and straps is required
- Strong understanding of DOT cargo securement regulations
- Clean driving record
- 21+ years of age (insurance requirement)
- Strong work ethic and dependability
- Ability to lift 75+ lbs
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and stay organized
- Flexible schedule with willingness for occasional overnight runs
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
- Prior flatbed, hotshot, towing, or equipment hauling experience is a plus
