The hospital is well-equipped with a surgical CO2 laser, therapeutic laser, Diode laser, digital radiography, digital dental radiographs, ultrasound, and extensive in-house laboratory with automated CBC and chemistry analyzers, and clotting profile analyzer. *Description of the Veterinary Assistant role:
*A technician position at Shamrock Animal Hospital provides an environment where multi-tasking skills are essential. Each of our TAs/VAs/CVTs works together as a team with a DVM. As a technician, you will see a lot of interesting and challenging cases. Your knowledge base, skill set, and abilities will grow. We are currently looking for compassionate, dependable, and motivated VA's who like to collaborate with others to provide the best care for pets and great service to the pet's family. Full and part-time positions are available. Training and orientation to equipment and protocols will be provided on-site. Prior animal-related experience is preferred.

*VA Duties include but are not limited to:*
* Obtain patient history and take vital signs
* Provide animal restraint
* Communicate clearly between front-desk (admissions & discharges) and your team members to support a smooth flow of patient/client care
* Apply therapeutic laser treatments
* Position and expose radiographs
* Serve as a medical scribe to assist DVM during a physical exam
* Provide patient care for in-hospital and boarded animals that require medications
* Assist in training new vet & tech assistants (once settled into the VA role)
* Provide and maintain clear lines of communication between team members (DVM, CVT, vet asst, tech asst)
* Perform nail trims and anal gland expression
* Maintain aseptic practice standards
*Work schedule: *4-5 day work week ( 8-10 hour days)
*Clinic Hours:* Monday - Friday 8 am - 6 pm
We are currently not open on weekends or evenings in order to manage staff and doctor stress and fatigue from the COVID-19 "curbside" practice model.

VA Salary: $16.00 - $17.00/hour ($32,000 - $34,000/year) or more depending on experience, skill set, and assumed responsibilities .
