We are looking for a passionate, detail-oriented Roasting & Production Assistant to join our team in Clarkesville, Georgia and help us deliver excellence from bean to bag.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Roasting & Production Assistant plays a vital hands-on role in our daily roasting, packing, shipping, and warehouse operations. Working closely with our production leadership, you will help ensure that every bag of coffee that leaves our facility meets the high standards our customers and mission demand. This role is ideal for someone who loves coffee, thrives in a dynamic production environment, and takes pride in quality workmanship.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Roasting
- Assist in carrying out daily roasting requirements based on production schedules
- Use daily pick lists to help build and follow an organized roasting schedule
- Participate in daily cupping sessions and assist in evaluating and adjusting roast profiles
- Maintain accurate logs of roast recipes, profiles, and production data
- Help track and manage green coffee inventory
- Follow the regular maintenance schedule for all roasting equipment
- Maintain a consistent focus on quality and excellence in every roast
Packing
- Support efficient packing routines and help optimize workflow
- Assist in maintaining packing equipment per the regular maintenance schedule
- Follow and uphold all food handling, packaging, and safety regulations
- Ensure all finished coffee products are packaged and presented to the highest standard
- Help track packing supply inventory and flag needs for reorder
Shipping
- Assist in coordinating the daily shipment of customer orders
- Follow proper protocols to ensure accurate, error-free order fulfillment
- Support coordination of local deliveries as needed
- Help track shipping supply inventory and communicate reorder needs
Warehouse & Facility
- Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly warehouse cleaning responsibilities
- Help ensure the warehouse is consistently clean, organized, and presentable
- Assist with receiving incoming shipments — inspect for damage, verify quantities, and store or route items appropriately
- Support compliance with all applicable Department of Agriculture regulations
- Assist with quarterly sample submissions for testing as needed
Inventory
- Assist with regular inventory counts for all order fulfillment items, including packing supplies, shipping materials, green coffee, flavorings, and merchandise
- Support ordering of the following items as directed:
- Shipping supplies (boxes, tape, packing paper, etc.)
- Coffee bags in multiple sizes, film, and labels
- Coffee flavorings
- Cups, lids, and coffee filters
- Report low inventory levels to the appropriate lead for the following items:
- Green coffee
- Merchandise (apparel, mugs, brewing supplies, etc.)
- Printed coffee bags and labels
- Assist with end-of-month warehouse inventory counts
- Receive incoming inventory shipments and update product records in Shopify using transfers
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Passion for specialty coffee and a desire to grow within the industry
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality in every task
- Ability to follow written and verbal procedures accurately and consistently
- Comfortable working in a physical, fast-paced production environment — ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Team-oriented attitude with a willingness to pitch in wherever needed
- Basic computer skills; experience with Shopify or inventory systems is a plus
- Prior experience in coffee roasting, food production, or warehouse operations preferred but not required
