SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall maintenance and repairs of their assigned clubs to ensure a safe, clean and fully functional environment that supports a positive member experience. This role plays a key part in maintaining appearance, safety, and operational functionality of each facility. This position requires regular travel between club locations to complete maintenance tasks as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are a representative of responsibilities associated with this position. Employees may be required to perform additional or different tasks from those noted below:

Perform general building maintenance and repairs including HVAC, plumbing, electrical and painting as necessary

Repair or replace any broken equipment (toilets, faucets, showers, hair dryers, gym equipment etc.)

Perform routine preventative maintenance and prioritize repairs on all fitness equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, strength machines, etc.)

Coordinate with Facilities Manager and Operations Managers to address club maintenance needs and schedule necessary repairs.

Conduct regular club inspections to identify and resolve issues
- Maintain an accurate Maintenance Log utilizing our Work Order Management Software

Manage the inventory of maintenance parts and supplies needed and accurately maintain all related documentation.
- Respond to work related email daily to ensure timely communication and follow up.

Respond promptly to emergencies, notify appropriate personnel and follow established safety protocols

Establish and maintain relationships with contractors and third-party service providers

Represent the company in a clean, professional and well-groomed manner adhering to the Planet Fitness dress code.
The following outlines the knowledge, skills and ability required at the time of hire or expected to be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
Required:
-
Must be 18 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license and ability to travel between multiple locations.

Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

Basic Knowledge and ability to safely use hand and power tools.
-
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
-
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and perform physical tasks as needed including using ladders and lifts.

Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
-
Flexible schedule with occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required.

Valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to be covered under company auto policy and ability to travel to various locations.

Candidates must submit to a background check consisting of a National Criminal Scan, National Sex Offender Registry, National Security/Terrorist Watch List and County Criminal Search. Continued employment will be based on satisfactory outcome of the background check.
Preferred:
-
Previous maintenance experience preferred (fitness or commercial setting a plus).

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience in general maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical and carpentry skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Environment: Indoor and outdoor environment; exposure to varying temperatures, noise, dust, cleaning chemicals and gym equipment.
Physical: This role requires prolonged periods of standing and walking. Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, twisting, repetitive hand movement and lifting (up to 75 lbs.) may be required. The candidate must be able to perform CPR and operate equipment as needed, to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; and to verbally communicate in person or on the phone to exchange information.
Vision and Hearing: Normal vision and hearing, with or without correction.
