The Simulation and Lab Assistant provides administrative, operational, and technical leadership for healthcare simulation and skills laboratory activities at the Mercy College of Health Professions. This role assists in simulation and lab operations, maintaining inventory and learning resources, and supports faculty in the simulation and skills lab experiences. This position works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators to support high-quality experiential learning and continuous improvement of simulation and laboratory learning experiences.
- Assist with the preparation and setup of simulation scenarios, including manikins, task trainers, moulage, clinical equipment, simulated medications, documentation tools, and instructional technology
- Help ensure simulation and lab equipment is functional, appropriately staged, and ready to use
- Provide on-site technical support during simulation and laboratory activities, including basic troubleshooting and assisting with activity flow
- Manage simulation and skills lab equipment, and technology.
- Support and maintain scheduling of simulation and laboratory spaces
- Maintain inventory management system and assist with supply ordering, tracking usage within budgetary guidelines
- Assist with coordinating maintenance, repairs, or replacement of equipment as appropriate
- Ensure simulation and lab environments are organized, clean, and compliant with safety and infection control standards
- Maintain records and documentation related to simulation activities, equipment, and lab usage
- Assist in coordinating simulation support for special events, program activities, and campus initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor that support program and institutional objectives

- Associate degree in healthcare, education, science, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Strong organizational, and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with faculty, staff, and students
- Proficiency with computer systems and ability to learn simulation-related and instructional technology
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, education, science, or a related field
- Experience working in healthcare simulation or skills laboratory environments
- Familiarity with healthcare equipment, clinical workflows, or accreditation standards
- Experience supporting academic programs, faculty, or experiential learning initiatives
- Primarily works in simulation and skills laboratory settings
- Regular exposure to clinical equipment and simulated healthcare environments
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support instructional needs
- Frequently moves throughout simulation and laboratory spaces
- Regularly positions self to operate equipment and access supplies
- Ability to lift, move, and position equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds
- Continuous communication with faculty, staff, and students
- Frequent use of computers, lab technology, and simulation equipment
