Position Overview
The Director of Family Ministries provides leadership for the spiritual formation of children, youth, and families. This leader works with the pastor and church leadership to develop ministries that nurture faith, encourage discipleship, and equip families to grow together as followers of Jesus Christ in accordance with the mission of The United Methodist Church: to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The Director of Family Ministries leads the congregation’s ministries for children and youth by developing opportunities to encounter Christ, learn Scripture, recruiing volunteers, and creating environments where young people can grow in faith. This role seeks to integrate children and youth into the broader life of the church through worship participation, service opportunities, and discipleship experiences while partnering with parents, caregivers, and First Seniors in the faith formation of young persons in an intergenerational environment.
Responsibilities
Spiritual Leadership
· Maintain a healthy and growing spiritual life.
· Model Christian discipleship and leadership.
· Encourage children, youth, and families to grow in their faith.
Children’s Ministry
· Coordinate and lead ministries for children including community hour (Sunday school), special programs, and events.
· Recruit and train volunteers to support children’s ministry.
· Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for children.
Youth / Student Ministry
· Plan and lead youth gatherings, Bible studies, and fellowship activities.
· Encourage youth participation in worship and church ministries.
· Organize mission opportunities, service projects, and retreats.
· Plan and lead confirmation classes
Family Discipleship
· Partner with parents and caregivers to support faith development at home.
· Provide resources and encouragement for families seeking to grow spiritually together.
· Develop opportunities for intergenerational ministry within the church.
Leadership Development
· Identify and mentor young leaders within the church.
· Encourage youth and children to serve in worship and ministry roles.
· Help young people discover and use their spiritual gifts.
Volunteer Leadership
· Recruit, train, and support volunteers who assist with children and youth ministries.
· Build a collaborative team for family ministry.
· Encourage relationships between generations within the congregation.
· Supervise acolyte training
Collaboration
· Work with the pastor and church staff to align family ministries with the overall mission of the church.
· Coordinate with other ministry leaders to include children and youth in church events and activities.
· Communicate regularly with families and church leadership.
Safety and Policies
· Follow church safe sanctuary policies and child protection procedures.
· Ensure appropriate supervision and safety for all children and youth activities.
Qualifications
· Demonstrated Christian faith and commitment to the mission of the church.
· Passion for working with children, youth, and families.
· Strong relational and organizational skills.
· Experience in ministry, education, or youth leadership preferred.
· Willingness to support the doctrine and mission of The United Methodist Church.
· 21+

· Children and youth will grow in their understanding of the gospel and Christian faith.
· Families will be supported and encouraged in nurturing faith at home.
· Children and youth will actively participate in the life and ministries of the church.
· Young people will develop leadership skills and a sense of belonging within the church community.
Pay: $14,000.00 - $16,000.00 per year
